Embark on a cycling odyssey that captures the soul of Greece, winding from the ancient sanctuary of Delphi to the Venetian grandeur of Corfu. Your journey begins with a soaring descent from the alpine village of Arachova through the legendary "Sea of Olives," before evolving into a coastal epic along the Ionian Sea. You will pedal the mirror-like causeways of Messolonghi, conquer the wild, cypress-lined cliffs of Lefkada, and trace the turquoise coves of the “Epirus Riviera”. The adventure culminates on the "Emerald Isle" of Corfu, where you’ll tackle storied climbs through silver olive groves before relaxing in the sophisticated, fortress-guarded plazas of the Old Town. Expertly curated by locals to balance physical challenge with cultural immersion, this is a world class ride through the authentic, less-traveled heart of western Greece.
Day 1 – Wednesday, May 19, 2027 Athens - Arachova
Your journey begins with a pickup in Athens and a scenic transfer to the alpine-style village of Arachova, famed for its stone houses and mountain atmosphere at the foot of Mount Parnassos. After settling into your hotel, set up your bikes, meet your fellow riders, and prepare for the journey ahead amid a relaxed mountain-town atmosphere. Enjoy a walk though the cobblestones to visit the Clock Tower, built into the sheer rock face called Tyria. Then climb the 264 stone steps to visit the church of Saint George. From this summit courtyard you’ll have a 360 view of the red-tiled roofs and Parnassos peaks. In the evening, we gather for a welcome briefing followed by a celebratory dinner to mark the start of our adventure (L,D)
Day 2 – May 20 Arachova - Galaxidi, cycling 33m/1900’
Climb through deep fir forests to the alpine meadow at Livadi, considered the most beautiful alpine ascent in Greece. The steep cliffs disappear, replaced by a massive, flat emerald green alpine meadow covered in yellow wildflowers. You’ll be surrounded by towering peaks on all sides in a lush, green, flat valley which looks more like Austria than Greece. Our descent brings us to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Delphi for a guided tour. Dedicated to Apollo in the 8th century B.C., Delphi was the spiritual center of the ancient world. It was home to the legendary Oracle Pythia, whose prophecies guided the fate of kings and empires, and hosted the prestigious Pythian Games, second only to the Olympics in glory. After exploring the sanctuary, enjoy a long, flowing “Sea of Olives” descent through silver-green olive groves set against the blue Corinthian Gulf, finishing in the elegant, seaside town of Galaxidi. This town is a magical gem filled with neoclassical aristocratic mansions, a maritime heritage and colorful harbor. (B,D)
Day 3 – May 21 Galaxidi - Nafpaktos, cycling 42m/2326’
Our ride follows the edge of the Corinthian Gulf, combining gentle climbs with sweeping coastal views. Quiet roads lead past small fishing villages, hidden coves, and stretches of turquoise water, offering a classic Mediterranean cycling experience. As you approach Nafpaktos, the landscape becomes more dramatic, with views of the Rio–Antirrio Bridge in the distance. The day ends in this historic harbor town, where Venetian walls, a pyramid shaped castle, cobbled streets, and a beautifully preserved port create a perfect setting for an evening stroll and seaside dinner. (B,D)
Day 4 – May 22 Nafpaktos - Astakos, cycling 49m/1880’
We’ll depart the mountains to cycle the ethereal, mirror-like lagoons of the Messolonghi Delta, a unique wetland landscape where the road often skims the water’s edge filled with flamingos and pelicans. Visit the Garden of Heroes in Messolonghi, then ride across the long stone causeways of Aitoliko, a floating island town known as "Little Venice." The day’s finale shifts gears, shedding the flatlands for a rugged, rolling coastal road that hugs the wild limestone cliffs of the Ionian Sea, leading you into the authentic fishing port of Astakos. (B,D)
Day 5 – May 23 Astakos - Lefkada, cycling 47m/3245’
You’ll cycle on rolling terrain hugging the rugged, unspoiled coastline with sweeping views over the deep blue Ionian Sea. The day’s defining moment is the arrival at the Lefkada canal, where you will pedal across a unique floating bridge to enter the "Emerald Isle." Your arrival is guarded by the Castle of Agia Maura, an imposing 14th-century Venetian fortress that floats at the island's entrance. From here, spin along the Gyra, a stunning ribbon of road sandwiched between the open turquoise sea and the protected lagoon, passing historic windmills and watching kitesurfers catch the afternoon breeze. Lefkada’s relaxed island atmosphere makes it the perfect place to unwind after a rewarding day in the saddle. (B,D)
Day 6 – May 24 Lefkada - Parga, cycling 48m/2598’
After a short transfer, the ride continues north along the stunning "Epirus Riviera", where green hills meet the Ionian coast. The route traces a coastline where lush green pine forests tumble directly into emerald bays. A cultural highlight is the guided visit to the Necromanteio of Acheron, the ancient oracle of the underworld, believed to be a gateway to Hades. From here, the ride continues to Parga, arguably Greece’s most photogenic seaside town. Built like an amphitheater around a sheltered bay, its colorful pastel houses and towering Venetian castle evoke the charm of the Amalfi Coast with a distinct Greek soul. (B,D)
Day 7 – May 25 Parga - Syvota, cycling 17m/1808’
The route undulates through fragrant pine forests that spill directly down to secluded beaches, offering constant glimpses of the sea. Savor the beauty of the coast at a "Mediterranean pace." You will arrive early in Syvota, a coastal gem famous for having arguably the most Caribbean-looking waters in all of Greece. With its archipelago of tiny green islets and electric-blue bays, Syvota is a landscape best explored in the sea. The afternoon is yours to rent a small boat, swim in the crystal-clear coves, or simply relax with a freddo espresso at a waterfront taverna. (B,D)
Day 8 – May 26 Syvota - Corfu, cycling 30m/2448’
A scenic ferry crossing past the legendary Twin Fortresses brings us to the shores of Corfu. Within the Venetian grandeur of the UNESCO Old Town, you’ll trade cycling gear for a promenade under the Liston’s iconic arches. Sip local tsitsibira, marvel at the tradition of cricket on the Spianada, and explore the labyrinthine Campiello neighborhood. The day culminates with panoramic sunset views atop the Old Fortress; a deep dive into the culture of the Ionian’s most storied island. (B,L)
Day 9 – May 27 Northern Corfu Cycling Loop, cycling 49m/3261’
This challenging and scenic loop showcases Corfu’s most dramatic landscapes. Riding north from Corfu Town, the terrain becomes increasingly hilly, with steady climbs through ancient olive groves and traditional “hanging mountain villages” such as Sokraki. From the summit of the Pantokrator massif, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Ionian Sea and the Albanian coastline. The route skirts the island’s rugged north coast, passing viewpoints above Cape Drastis and near Sidari’s striking limestone rock formations, before returning through fertile valleys and quiet countryside roads. (B,D)
Day 10 – May 28 Central Corfu Cycling Loop, cycling 42m/1670’
Our final ride is a celebratory spin through the lush heart of the island—a landscape so green and undulating it is often called the "Tuscany of Greece." In stark contrast to the rugged north, today’s route weaves through a gentle tapestry of vineyards, pencil-thin cypress trees, and ancient olive groves that provide natural shade tunnels for our journey. The route glides past the imperial grounds of the Achilleion Palace, the summer refuge of Empress Sisi of Austria, and threads through sleepy inland villages where time seems to stand still. With soft gradients and a relaxed pace, this is the perfect "victory lap" to reflect on our odyssey before we gather for a final farewell feast in the Old Town. (B,D)
Day 11 - Saturday, May 29 Departure, transfer by bus to Athens
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Corfu and transfer by bus to its airport (CFU), carrying with us memories of legendary landscapes, ancient stories, and an unforgettable cycling adventure through western Greece. (B)
